35.Komodo Dragon’s Karma for Being Too Greedy – Komodo Dragon Eats Prey Alive | Animal Fight
The Komodo dragon, the largest living lizard species, is known for its ferocious hunting techniques, which sometimes involve eating prey alive. These apex predators, native to Indonesia, are notorious for their powerful jaws, razor-sharp teeth, and deadly venom that paralyzes their victims. Often, their strategy is to ambush and overpower prey, sinking their teeth into large animals like deer, wild boar, or even water buffalo. In some cases, due to their immense hunger and greed, Komodo dragons may begin devouring their prey before it’s even dead, leading to a horrifying and brutal scene.
This “live-feeding” behavior is rare in nature but occurs because the venomous bite quickly incapacitates the prey, rendering it too weak to defend itself or escape. For smaller animals, the Komodo dragon can gulp them down in a matter of minutes, while larger prey are eaten piece by piece. The dragon’s saliva contains toxins that induce shock and massive blood loss in the victim, hastening death but not fast enough to prevent the agony of being consumed alive.
Interestingly, this gruesome display of greed sometimes leads to complications for the Komodo dragon. When a dragon rushes to consume its prey without fully killing it, it risks injury from the thrashing animal. Large animals, even in their weakened state, can still lash out with hooves or horns, potentially harming the dragon in the process. Such reckless feeding also increases the chance of attracting other Komodo dragons, leading to intense competition or confrontations over the prey.
